Arsenal will launch a fresh move for Monaco and France midfielder Thomas Lemar during the January transfer window, reports say.

Lemar, 20, has attracted the attention of a number of clubs after helping Monaco win the French domestic title last season.

Arsene Wenger hoped to bring the talented star to north London last summer and made a deadline day offer of £90million to tempt Monaco to sell.

Despite failing in their pursuit, the Daily Mail say Arsenal will return to Monaco in January but will not be prepared to go as high as they did in the summer.

Liverpool and Barcelona have also expressed interest in signing Lemar and it is claimed the midfielder is now open to a move.

Lemar, who joined Monaco in 2015 from Caen, has been a regular for the France national side and could compensate for the likely departures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Chile international Sanchez has emerged as a target for Manchester City, who failed to land his signature last summer, while Ozil is being linked with Barcelona and Manchester United.

Asked whether Ozil had already agreed a deal to join Barca, Wenger told reporters on Friday: ‘No. What kind of control can I have over that [speculation]?

‘All these people have agents who can talk to anybody. That doesn’t disturb people, that happens all through their career.

‘I have no concerns [about their commitment]. I am more concerned about the team performance. Ozil and Alexis are praised when the team is doing well because of them, and when the team doesn’t do well they get more criticism.

‘I’m more concerned that the team focuses on strong performances.

‘They are honest. I don’t question their honesty. Nobody knows what will happen when the players reach the end of their contracts. Our worry is to perform on Sunday [at Burnley], that’s it.’
