Grant Xhaka, a man already on thin ice with Arsenal supporters, did himself no favours against Everton.
His loss of possession deep inside his own half led to Wayne Rooney’s opening goal at Goodison Park.
For a player supposedly picked for his defensive awareness and ball retention skills, it wasn’t a moment he will want to remember.
With his back to goal Idrissa Gueye robbed him of the ball before Wayne Rooney turned back the years by curling in a wonderful long range goal.
Gooners were furious while everyone else pointed out how much Arsenal spent to sign him.
Granit Xhaka has made more defensive errors leading to a league goal (2) than any other Arsenal player since the start of last season. ð° pic.twitter.com/8lVA9ch8mZ

Just a reminder that Arsene Wenger bought Granit Xhaka instead of N’Golo Kante. pic.twitter.com/8RldrlIs1m

Granit Xhaka shouldnât even be mentioned in the same sentence as the likes of Kante and Pogba heâs not even close to them.

Xhaka did at least go some way to redeeming himself later in the first half with his shot leading to Nacho Monreal’s rebound equaliser.
