Jurgen Klopp thinks he knows the two reasons Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled at Liverpool since signing in the summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain completed a transfer from Arsenal to Anfield at the end of August but the 24-year-old has received limited game-time since securing his £35million move to Merseyside.

The England star was even mocked for his display in the Reds’ 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Leicester last month but Klopp is confident his summer signing will come good.

On Oxlade-Chamberlain’s 12-minute cameo against Manchester United, Klopp said: ‘It was very good, I liked it!

‘Ox is a big signing for us, an English international and stuff like this, but coming in and doesn’t play regularly – I understand all the things, but everyone needs time, even Ox. He is cool, it is fine.’

Klopp believes Liverpool’s different style of play and the international break have made it difficult for the Englishman to hit the ground running.

He added: ‘With the different style of play, everything what is new is more intense for a new player.

‘You are exhausted even in moments when you shouldn’t be exhausted, but it’s all about trying to adapt to all that stuff.

‘We haven’t had the time in training because already since he’s been in there have been two international breaks, but that’s all.

‘When he came on, I think it was obvious it was a big step and I was really happy about this.’
