Alex Iwobi has revealed Arsenal and Premier League legend Thierry Henry still offers him support and advice.

Arsenal’s record goalscorer Henry worked at his former club’s academy for a period of time before joining Belgium as one of Roberto Martinez’s assistants last summer.

Iwobi has become an influential figure at the Emirates since graduating from the academy and breaking into the first-team in 2015.

And the Nigeria international has reiterated his affection for Henry, who he says still helps him with his game today.

Asked to name his all-time favourite Arsenal player, Iwobi told FourFourTwo: ‘Thierry Henry, defo.

‘The goals he got, the player he was – and he still advises me today, so definitely Henry.’

Arsenal have a proud record of bringing players through their academy and into Arsene Wenger’s first-team squad and Iwobi believes close friend Chuba Akpom could soon follow suit.

‘I don’t know who to expect because you never know who is going to come through but I would say Chuba Akpom,’ he added.

Iwobi will hope to help Arsenal continue their encouraging run in the Premier League when they travel to Watford on Saturday.

The Gunners have won three of their last four league fixtures to move up to fifth but face a Watford side who have lost just once this season.

‘They are a strong side,’ Wenger said of Watford at his pre-match press conference on Thursday. ‘They’ve had strong results and are clearly a balanced, dangerous team.

‘They’re a tough opponent for everybody. Marco [Silva] has impressed me because he plays good football – it’s been a very good start. Overall I think he’s done very well.’
