Alvaro Morata will have to be on his toes as Harry Kane’s form will have top clubs like Chelsea looking at him in upcoming transfer windows, according to ex-Blue Graeme Le Saux.

The Spain international has started brightly for the Premier League champions since a £60million summer move from Real Madrid, though Kane’s form has really got people talking.

While there is no obvious need for a new striker at Chelsea at the moment, Le Saux has warned Morata that if he does not maintain his fine form his place could be under threat.

The former England left-back did, however, rule out the prospect of a club like Chelsea having two strikers of the calibre of both Morata and Kane at the same time.

‘For Harry Kane, if he continues to do what he’s doing, he’ll be linked with every top club in Europe,’ Le Saux told the Daily Star.

‘But for Chelsea and most other clubs, having a second striker who is as prolific as Kane, it’s an impossible situation as there’s too much expectation from the player to be starting week-in, week-out.

‘And that’s really why it comes down to how Morata’s season pans out, but remember he’s not alone in being one of the hot new properties in the Premier League, just look at (Alexandre) Lacazette and Gabriel Jesus who are both in excellent form and the recent transfer window has shown us that no-one is untouchable.’

Diego Costa was Chelsea’s top scorer last season before Antonio Conte decided to offload him and replace him with Morata, and the cut-throat nature of the modern game means it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the Spaniard could be replaced if an upgrade like Kane were to become available.
