Manchester United are expressing a strong interest in Genoa wonderkid Pietro Pellegri, according to reports in Italy.

Pellegri, 17, burst onto the scene last season when he scored in only his second game for Genoa and the highly-rated striker fired home a brace at home to Lazio on Sunday afternoon after coming on as a first-half substitute.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Genoa received a flurry on phone calls off the back of Pellegri’s performance, with United, AC Milan and Juventus all very keen on the teenager.

Pictures of Pellegri’s father crying, after the teenager scored his double, immediately went viral across social media – his old man, Marco, happens to be Genoa’s assistant coach.

Pellegri’s agent is in England this week, sparking speculation that the Red Devils could be negotiating a possible deal for the promising Italy Under-17 international.

Chelsea are also circling and the two Premier League giants could battle it out for the young forward.

However, Serie A giants Juve are understood to be favourites in the race to land Pellegri.
