Fernando Llorente is having a medical at Tottenham as his chances of a move to Chelsea recede.
The Swansea striker has been linked with a move all summer with Stamford Bridge always having appeared the most likely destination.
However Spurs have made a late move for Llorente and are making serious progress.
A fee of around £14million has been agreed for the Spaniard, who according to reports is undergoing a medical with the Wembley-based club.
That information would suggest a move to Chelsea is now unlikely, despite the player allegedly preferring a move to Stamford Bridge.
Llorente worked with Antonio Conte at Juventus and would become the back-up to Alvaro Morata of he were to move there. However the Blues, who have held talks with Swansea, have not made a formal bid.
Tottenham are seeking back-up of their own – in their case to Harry Kane. Current deputy Vincent Janssen, signed last summer, has failed to prove himself capable of the role.
Llorente scored 15 Premier League goals last season.
