Antonio Conte doubts Chelsea’s title chances this season (Picture: Getty)

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted he agrees with people writing off the club’s chances of retaining their Premier League crown this season.

The Italian tactician used the opportunity to once again allude to the Blues’ poor work in the transfer market, having publicly stated his dissatisfaction over a lack of signings several times this summer.

Although Chelsea have brought in big names in Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, Conte is thought to want as many as four more after also losing a number of key figures in player sales.

Despite strolling to the title last term, Conte now believes it’s correct to doubt Chelsea’s credentials this time.

‘Honestly, if you have to give your evaluation on the card (on paper) it’s right. It’s right not to put Chelsea to be a favourite,’ he said.

‘It was the same last season. Not one person believed Chelsea would win the title. This season, in this moment, I agree with these people who think this.
