Arsene Wenger is now focusing on signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City after Arsenal completed a deal for Alexandre Lacazette on Wednesday, according to reports.

Lacazette joined in a club-record deal worth £52 million from Lyon but Wenger remains in the market for further attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.

And Independent.ie reports that the Leicester winger is now in the Arsenal manager’s sights having missed out on a deal to sign the Algeria international last year.

Mahrez has already made it clear that he wants to switch clubs this summer but Leicester will be holding out for a £35m transfer fee.

Speaking about a potential move for Mahrez last month, Wenger told beIN Sports: ‘Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet. Not yet means it could happen, it could not happen.

‘I think he had a huge impact at Leicester when they won the championship, like everybody else.

‘It’s been a different season this year but it doesn’t take anything away from his qualities.’

Arsenal’s push towards Mahrez comes after Monaco reportedly informed Wenger that they will not accept anything lower than £80m for Thomas Lemar.

The France international was one of Monaco’s key stars last season and is refusing to force through a move to Arsenal, who have already had a £31m bid rejected.
