Bournemouth are set to sign Nathan Ake in a £20 million deal from Chelsea, according to reports.

The Sun claims that the 22-year-old is expected to complete his move to Eddie Howe’s side when he returns from his holiday in early July.

Ake spent the first half of last season on loan with Bournemouth but was recalled by Antonio Conte in January.

Despite being brought back to Stamford bridge, the defender’s playing time was limited as he made just seven appearances in all competitions.

Bournemouth submitted an £18m bid for the Netherlands international in the January transfer window but Chelsea rejected the offer.

Ake will be Bournemouth’s second signing from Chelsea this summer after the club completed a deal for Asmir Begovic at the end of May.

Ake’s departure is set to pave the way for a new defensive arrival at Chelsea.

The Premier League champions have launched a £60m bid for Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

Offers have also been made to Juventus for Leonardo Bonucci and Alex Sandro which is set to cost Chelsea in the region of £100m if both transfers are agreed.
