Arsenal were cheered on by one of their former players at Wembley on Sunday and many fans were hoping his return to London would be a permanent one.

Most Gooners were sad to see Serge Gnabry depart the Emirates Stadium in the summer, particularly following his displays at last summer’s Olympics which saw him finish the tournament as the joint-top goalscorer.

Injuries and a couple of unproductive loan spells hindered Gnabry’s progress at Arsenal but his career has been rejuvenated following his decision to join Werder Bremen during the close season.

The 21-year-old has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for club and country so far in 2016-17, including a hat-trick on his senior international debut for Germany.

The talented winger tweeted he had traveled to Wembley to cheer on his former side in their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City and most fans were left wishing he was out there in red and white…
