Bastian Schweinsteiger insists he ‘dreams’ of once again playing for Manchester United despite being frozen out by Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has seemingly decided that the World Cup winner will not play a part of his future plans at Old Trafford, cutting the 32-year-old from his first-team squad
Schweinsteiger, who has been training alone or alongside the reserves, has not been included in a single match-day squad yet this season.
Despite the treatment that he is receiving in Manchester, the German international insisted he has ‘no personal problems with Jose Mourinho’ and wants to work his way back into the team.
‘My absolute dream would be to play for Manchester United and to help them with their goals,’ Schweinsteiger said before playing in his final game for the German national team.
‘I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho. I still believe in my own ability. I could still help United if given the chance.’
‘I have to wait and see now how it goes in September and October and how it develops. One thing is for sure, I’m not going to stop playing football,’ he added.
Schweinsteiger has previously stated that he will not move to another European club, leaving the door open to a potential switch to either China or MLS.
‘The MLS transfer window is closed,’ the 32-year-old said. ‘So it won’t happen this season. But of course, the US is an option.’
