Coming back: Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud (Picture: Reuters)

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Olivier Giroud will be in contention to return from injury for Arsenal’s crunch clash against Manchester United in two weeks’ time.

The Frenchman was expected to be out until new year with a broken foot sustained back in August, but after making a speedy recovery, Wenger has confirmed the forward will ‘join back in training next week’.

Arsenal travel to Swansea at the weekend before the international break, meaning Giroud will have two weeks of full preparation to put himself in the first-team frame before United arrive at the Emirates on November 22.

Wenger also confirmed Jack Wilshere has recovered from sickness in time to face Swansea, but there’s no definitive return date set for defender Laurent Koscielny.

‘Koscielny has a little chance to be back after the international break,’ Wenger said.

‘Debuchy, Ospina and Ozil are progressing very well, but of course they are not available before or straight after the international break.’
