Thomas Meunier has confirmed Paris Saint-Germain rejected a deadline-day transfer offer from Chelsea for his services.

Antonio Conte endured a frustrating summer transfer window despite bringing in a number of big-money signings such as Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Antonio Rudiger.

The Italian coach was thwarted in the pursuit of his first-choice option for the right flank - Juventus wing-back Alex Sandro - and ended up signing Davide Zappacosta from Torino minutes before the transfer window slammed shut.

Belgium international Meunier joined PSG in the summer of 2016, but Unai Emery added Brazil legend Dani Alves to his squad for the 2017-18 season to bolster the French club's chances of finally winning the Champions League.

Meunier - who earlier this month said he had turned down a move to Chelsea in order to become PSG's first-choice right-back - told Sky Sports on Friday night that PSG rejected an approach from the Premier League champions despite Alves' arrival.

"On the last day of the transfer period, they made an offer to Paris but I know it was no," Meunier said.

"From the club, they didn't want to sell me - because we [have] two right-backs, with Dani Alves and me, it was difficult to sell one."

Asked if he wanted the move to London, Meunier said: "I didn't really think about it because they called me in they told me 'you will not move at all so don't think about Chelsea or another club, you will not move so you stay in Paris and we are counting on your for the rest of the season'."
