Thibaut Courtois has admitted he is no closer to signing a new Chelsea contract but hopes talks will resume near the end of the season.

The Belgium keeper's current deal has less than two years left to run and he remains a target for Real Madrid.

Courtois is believed to be paid £100,000-a-week, but is looking to double his money in order to get the same salary as Manchester United's David de Gea.

Chelsea are keen to agree an extension, but negotiations haven't progressed since Standard Sport revealed in June that he had rejected their opening offer.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's Champions League game at Qarabag, Courtois said: "The thing for me, the most important thing, is to perform well for myself and the team.

"Regarding my contract, that's the thing where Chelsea must deal with my agent. I don't think there have been any new developments.

"We have so many games at the moment, and I prefer to focus on the team's games, my own performances. There will be time enough towards the end of the season to have talks.”

It is understood that both sides want to agree terms, but Real Madrid will be encouraged by the lack of developments.

The Spanish Giants have been looking for a new keeper for a few years and Courtois has been in their wish-list since Jose Mourinho was manager there between 2010-13.

Chelsea put a £73m valuation on Courtois' head two years ago in order to put Madrid off.
