Roberto Martinez believes Romelu Lukaku's career choices will ensure that the Manchester United striker is able to endure his recent barren run and start scoring goals again.
Lukaku signed for Chelsea in 2011 and was loaned out to West Brom and Everton for the following two seasons. After scoring 15 goals for the Toffees he completed a permanent move to Goodison Park in summer 2014 for £28million, proving a big success on Merseyside.
Lukaku scored 18 League goals in his first full season as an Everton player and 25 during the 2016-17 campaign, finishing second in the Golden Boot race to Harry Kane.
The Belgian's form for the Toffees convinced Jose Mourinho's Red Devils to beat Chelsea to the striker's signature in a £75m deal this summer, with Lukaku scoring seven League goals for United so far this season.
Despite a strong start to life at Old Trafford, Lukaku has not scored since the end of September - but Belgium head coach Martinez believes the forward is on the right track after leaving Chelsea to develop and earn another big move.
"He needs to be given a path and I think that path now is the move he had from Chelsea to West Brom, from West Brom to Everton and then after playing in Europe for Everton in an important role, going into Manchester United in a team that you're always expected to win; I think it's been a really interesting stage or path for Romelu," Martinez told ESPN FC.
"Through that path you're going to have good moments, bad moments, but I think we're all aware that the enormous talent that he has in front of goal will allow him to go through any bad spell."
Martinez's Belgium qualified for the World Cup with ease, and face friendlies against Mexico (November 10) and Japan (Nov. 14) during the international break.
Lukaku has been called up despite his lack of recent goals, and returns to Premier League action with United on Nov. 18 against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
