Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says that the best is still to come from him in an Arsenal shirt, despite his sizzling debut on Saturday evening.

Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were made their home debuts in front of the Emirates crowd, with both proving pivotal to the Gunners victory.

Arsenal’s new record signing took just six minutes to provide a defence splitting pass, providing fellow new-boy Mkhitaryan with the opportunity set-up Aaron Ramsey for the first goal of the game.

The Gunners were in scintillating form again at home, scoring another two goals to make it 3-0 by the 20-minute mark. Aubameyang himself then benefitted from yet another inch perfect pass from Mkhitaryan, and the Gabon international cheekily dinked the ball over Jordan Pickford and into the back of the net.

Arsenal went on to win the game 5-1 in a convincing display, with Arsene Wenger’s men moving to within just five points of the Champions League places.

“Of course I was really happy,” Aubameyang said on the club's official website after the game. “We won the game in the first half and the second was a bit different. We are all happy today.

“Is there more to come from me? I think so!”

Wenger - though impressed with the 28-year-olds performance, also believes that the Gunners new record signing still has more to give in the Arsenal jersey: “The quality of his movement, I must say,” Wenger told the official Arsenal website.

“When you analyse well where he goes and when he goes, it’s always what you want from a striker, and even then I believe he is not completely 100 per cent fit physically. But the quality of his movement and the quality of his finishing was very good.”
