Huddersfield vs Chelsea team news: Eden Hazard starts up front in place of injured striker Alvaro Morata

Vaishali Bhardwaj12 December 2017

Antonio Conte has opted to replace the injured Alvaro Morata with Eden Hazard for Chelsea's Premier League clash away to Huddersfield on Tuesday night.

Standard Sport first reported that Morata was forced to pull out early from Chelsea's training session on Friday and go for a scan, but made the cut as Conte started the striker against West Ham the following day.

Morata struggled at the London Stadium as West Ham won the derby clash 1-0 and was subsequently ruled out of Chelsea's trip to Huddersfield with an issue in his back and because of tiredness.

And Conte has now decided to replace Chelsea's top scorer with Hazard, and have Willian and Pedro play as the Blues' wingers in a 3-4-3 formation against David Wagner's side.

Chelsea's only other recognised striker, Michy Batshuayi, has only just returned from a foot injury and makes the bench following his two goals in the club's Under-23s win over MK Dons last week.

Meanwhile, captain Gary Cahill has been rested and is replaced by Antonio Rudiger in defence as Cesc Fabregas is also rested, with Tiemoue Bakayoko taking the Spaniard's spot in midfield next to N'Golo Kante.

Chelsea starting XI: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Moses, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso, Pedro, Hazard, Willian.

Chelsea subs: Caballero, Cahill, Ampadu, Drinkwater, Fabregas, Musonda, Batshuayi.
