How Tottenham could line-up against Manchester United after Harry Kane injury

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that it’s ‘impossible’ to risk star man Harry Kane against Manchester United this weekend.

Spurs, level on points with Jose Mourinho’s side in the Premier League, travel to Old Trafford looking to move second and close the five-point gap to Manchester City.

However, after Kane was withdrawn two minutes from time against Liverpool appearing to hold his hamstring the England captain stayed away from Wembley for their EFL Cup clash with West Ham and will now sit out the trip to Manchester.

With Spurs now without the Premier League’s top scorer, who has 13 goals in 12 outings across all competitions at club level so far this season, Pochettino will have to call on another to shoulder the burden of leading the line against title rivals.

With that in mind, how could the Argentine line-up on Saturday afternoon, take a look at Standard Sport’s proposed XI:

Lloris; Vertonghen, Sanchez, Alderweireld; Trippier, Dier, Winks, Davies; Eriksen, Alli, Llorente

Deadline day signing Fernando Llorente, having missed out on a pre-season thanks to a broken arm, is now looking fully-fit and sharp. With an impressive performance under his belt against Real Madrid the former Swansea man could well be the man chosen to fill Kane’s boots.

Heung-Min Son can also play through the middle, however, could also provide Pochettino the impact he needs from the bench should things not be going to plan.
