Harry Kane has described reaching 100 goals for Tottenham as describing but has admitted that he didn’t mean to score the one which got him over the line.

The England international, who once again had to wait until September to open his Premier League account for the season, whipped a cross in at Goodison Park which found the back of Jordan Pickford’s net as opposed to a teammate to open the scoring in their 3-0 over Everton.

“No I didn’t [mean to shoot] I think everyone could tell it was a cross,” Kane told BBC Sport.

“I got a lucky one but sometimes you need that, I said that in August sometimes you just need a break to go your way and luckily I got that and managed to get the second as well.”

The 24-year-old’s brace takes him to 101 goals in all competition for Spurs, and he is planning on increasing that tally: “It has been a crazy few years and to get 100th goal was amazing.

"Hopefully I can get a few more."

Kane will be hoping to make it at least 102 on Wednesday night when Spurs begin their Champions League campaign with the visit of Borussia Dortmund.
