Wilfried Zaha is stepping up his recovery from a knee injury as he bids to give Crystal Palace a lift by returning against Chelsea after the international break.

Zaha has been out of action since the opening day of the season, but the winger is targeting a return against the champions at Selhurst Park on October 14.

The 24-year-old posted a video of himself training on social media and said: “The comeback is near.”

Zaha is still training away from the squad but is hoping to join up with the rest of his team-mates soon.

Having Zaha back will provide a boost for Roy Hodgson as he looks to start a recovery at Palace.

Hodgson is without Christian Benteke for six weeks because of a knee injury and he knows Zaha can make a big difference to a side who have lost their opening six Premier League matches without scoring a goal.

It doesn’t get any easier for Palace, as they face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
