Roy Hodgson says Crystal Palace want to get a result for their fans at Brighton on Tuesday night.

Palace and Brighton meet for the first time in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium.

Hodgson knows the rivalry between the two clubs and said: “What changes with a derby is the pressure and expectation on everybody to not disappoint the fans, because the fans take the derby results a little bit harder if it does not go their way.

“I know the rivalry is very strong and dates back a long time. Every club has its derby match, we have several because we are a London club, but this one is regarded as the most important derby for the Palace fans and we are preparing for it accordingly.”

Palace are yet to pick up a single point away from home this season and Hodgson knows Brighton would be a great place to get their first win on the road.

Hodgson, who has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game, said: “Winning away from home would be good, we have not even taken a point away from home.

“That does not concern me as such because we are not playing and working now as we were at the start of the season, we have improved.

“I think the results will come and would be very helpful if they could come this week.”
