Crystal Palace defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been called up to the Netherlands squad.

The Manchester United man, who has impressed on loan at Palace this term, was initially named in the Under-21s squad with Palace team-mate Jairo Riedewald, but will now join up with the senior camp.

Fosu-Mensah, 19, made his international debut in the 4-0 victory against France in September and could now add to his solitary cap in forthcoming friendlies against Scotland and Romania.

Fosu-Mensah, who was brought to Palace on loan by Frank de Boer in the summer, made his seventh start for the Eagles in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.

It was his first start since Palace were thrashed 5-0 by Manchester City in September and the defender will hope to feature for the Oranje over the next week.

Dick Advocaat's men failed to qualify for the World Cup and will not be at a second successive major tournament after also missing the 2016 European Championships in France.
