Champions League top scorers: Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo on 14 goals with new record

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is almost certain to end the 2017-18 season as the Champions League's top goalscorer after another extraordinary performance.

With Tottenham's Harry Kane and PSG's Edinson Cavani exiting the competition at the last-16 stage, Ronaldo added another two goals to his tally as Real beat Juventus 3-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie in Turin.

Ronaldo became the first player to score in 10 consecutive Champions League matches when Real swept into an early lead, but he saved the best for last.

A mix-up between Chiellini and Buffon saw substitute Lucas Vazquez denied by a flying recovery save from the goalkeeper, but Buffon could only stand and watch as Dani Carvajal floated a cross in from the right which Ronaldo, with his back to goal, dispatched into the top corner with a perfectly-executed overhead kick for his 14th of this season's competition.

Wissam Ben Yedder sits second in the charts with eight goals, but Sevilla's 2-1 home defeat against Bayern Munich makes their progress beyond the quarters unlikely.

Liverpool star Roberto Firmino is the closest challenger left in the competition, with seven goals to his name as the Reds prepare to face Manchester City.
