Alvaro Morata’s treble against Stoke City has brought him level with Manchester duo Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

The Blues striker, who arrived for a club-record fee from Real Madrid during the summer after Antonio Conte was beaten to Lukaku's signature, had scored three Premier League goals before this weekend’s trip to the Potteries, all of which had been headers.

Having joked in recent weeks that he would like to use his feet soon, it took the Spaniard just 82 seconds to open the scoring – with his boot – before adding another two to take him level with Aguero and Lukaku on six for the season.

After last week, when London clubs failed to find the back of the net between them and the two Manchester sides managed to do so ten times, there was concern that the capital would be left well behind in the goal-scoring race.

However, with Morata’s hat-trick as well as Harry Kane, the winner of the last two Golden Boot awards, the capital’s clubs are forcing their way back into the running.
