QPR midfielder Sandro will be out of action until the New Year after picking a fresh injury, the club’s doctor has announced.

The Brazilian midfielder was taken off in the 61st minute of Rangers’ 1-0 loss away to Newcastle at the weekend after taking a blow to his right knee.

It is the latest in a string of injury problems for the 25-year-old, who has only completed a full 90 minutes on two occasions since he joined QPR in the summer.

Speaking to the official club website, Dr Peter Florida said: “Sandro took a bad knock to his right knee, and has suffered damage to his medial ligaments.

“It is totally unrelated to his previous ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] injury.

“Unfortunately, he will now be unavailable for selection until after Christmas.”

QPR currently sit bottom of the Premier League table and are three points from safety after only picking up one win in their last nine matches.
