Andreas Pereira has spoken of his time playing under Tony Adams at Granada, and feels that it has made him better equipped to progress at Manchester United.

His first-team opportunities have been limited at Old Trafford, so he was sent to the La Liga club last season in order to gain valuable experience.

Having played under the former Arsenal captain, Pereira is now ready to return and stake his claim to play regular Premier League football and credits Adams' influence.

"He was good," Pereira told Press Association Sport. "He spoke with a me a lot of times individually.

"I have learned a lot from him and he's a good man. He taught me a lot of defensive plays because obviously he has been a defender.

"I am very happy that I got to work with him."

Adams took charge of Granada for the final seven games of a La Liga season in which they finished bottom and was unable to claim a point in any of the matches.

He plans to return to the boardroom role he was initially appointed to next season but, in an exclusive interview last month, revealed his plans for the Spanish outfit.

"I’ve put a very good head coach in there and a very good sports director." Adams told Standard Sport.

"I’m vetting the players, I’ve got to keep an eye on it. My remit was to clean, build and then go back and check.

"John [Granada owner Jian ‘John’ Lizhang] likes my ideas and knowledge and I try to get good sports directors, good coaches and good players that can work for our clubs.

"They listen to me… for the moment."
