Sami Khedira confirms he will leave Real Madrid for free this summer

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has confirmed that he will leave the Liga side this summer.

The World Cup winner, who is a long-term target of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, can leave the Bernabeu for nothing this summer when his contract expires.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a return to the Bundesliga also, with Schalke believed to hold strong interest in the 28-year-old, while Juventus are also believed to be keen on the former Stuttgart man.

Khedira admitted to Marca this week that he felt ‘hurt’ after being left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and today he confirmed that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, with a photo of himself sat in the Real Madrid changing rooms at their Valdebebas training ground.

“Valdedebas for the last time. I am moving on but I will surely miss my club Real, all of its staff and my unbelievable teammates!” he posted on Instagram. “Guys, it was one heck of a ride!!!”

After impressing for Germany at World Cup 2010, Khedira arrived at the Bernabeu from Stuttgart for a fee believed to have been in the region of €14 million.

During his five years with Real Madrid, the German has won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Liga title in the 2011–12 season under Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
