Who had the best pre-season of all the boys?

Salah and Solanke would be my vote

I'd agree with that, though if you just go by the Munch game, Moreno was outstanding!

He's a Europa League/mid table defender but nothing more in my opinion. Capable of excellent performances here and there but you know 1 every 2 games or so he's gonna be slack and allow the opposition in. In truth, I don't see too much difference in quality between him and Klavan and yet the latter is generally regarded as the reserve CD.

Just moments before that tackle that led to the goal, he had a really great touch with his foot to stop the ball.
      Pretty much sums him up.

How do u feel of people saying we need to upgrade in striker? Like u said Bobbi seems to be growing in both aspects

The upgrade striker argument has died down more as a result of finding out that Solanke has the potential to be really really good. Firmino was leading the line in enough matches with a lot of goals from us to show that he certainly empowers all those around him to score. I think where Firmino's presence very much distributes quality across the front line an out and out striker with natural instinct in the air and on the ground is always a required option in the event that the opposition shuts down the whole 'system'. So you need that player who's presence in the box could wield a goal out of nowhere like Diego Costa. For all his faults I think Diego Costa was so good at that (not a call saying that we should sign Diego Costa as Thommo has said this morning!). But if Solanke (I just can't see Origi doing it and I envisage Sturridge being injured for large chunks of the season yet again) can offer that type of service from time to time then that would be amazing.

He still isn't a natural striker though and never will be.

      Other than that he's quality.

      Alex Inglethorpe's suggestion actually.

Promote him to Head of Scouting and Recruitment .

Definitely need more Inglethorpe's at the club and less of the Edwards and Fallows types.

Just back from game. Jürgen played two different 11s (think only Migs player both). Thought the 2nd halvers did better.
1st half we started well, Salah with some nice touches, but last 20 mins or so of first half wasn't great when thought Bilbao were better.
2nd half the lads showed more energy and got rewards. Some bloke from crowd ran on, outpaced a couple lumbering stewarts to get a selfie with Mane, but they eventually got to him. Got a massive cheer. Mane wore the hat for a while, and gave it back :)
Thought Salah from the 1st half and Solanke in the 2nd half impressed most. Thought Solanke looked sharper than Firmino and Origi. Not much invention in 1st half with Can and Grujic in the middle. Woodburn did OK in 2nd half too.
Can't really read too much from a friendly, but the new signings deffo added something, would be such a pity not to bring in some more fresh faces. Missed seeing Cou. And Hendo.
Nice touch at the end, players and Jürgen hopped over the hoarding to let crowd get some photos in.

Not going to blame Mignolet for the goal today, but I still think we have better goalkeeping options. A better keeper, Karius would have closed that player down, he had nobody to pass to. Maybe it would still have been a goal, I don't know. Ultimately the defence needed to do a bit better there.

Only just seen goals . Their goal just shows how much we need a CB not Just the error by Lovren but the gap between both CB must have been twenty yards

I still think people don't factor in how hard it is to play with a striker like Origi. When you get so little movement and so little in terms of dropping deep and creating it's basically 'give it to me on a plate' or nothing. Much like the last few months of the season where we played Divock and Bobby's form supposedly dropped by shifting out to the left.

The run makes the pass and that's why everyone's stats fell. Hope to see either Bobby moved central or Solanke come on for the 2nd half.

      Entirely agree
I think Origi is a tricky player to work out.
I just don't see what it is that he does really well individually or what vital attributes he gives to us as a team.
He is quick but not that quick.
He makes runs but not the right runs
He wants to get the ball to feet but doesn't do anything with it in a positive manner
He occasionally wants the ball over the top but he doesn't show the awareness to be incisive when he gets on the end of it
He has a lot of size and strength but plays like someone who doesn't know how to use it.
He isn't clinical or have a eye for goal in terms of the basic or the inventive.
I just don't get him...think I have made that pretty clear!! Ha!!!

At €60 a ticket, they would want to have a good time. But it's great that the team can go anywhere in the world, be it a short 20 minute hop to Lansdowne Road or a 20 hour flight to the far end of Australia, and get a full house just by showing up.

These games fall apart once the subs start coming on, although I liked the Audi Cup format, where subs were restricted to certain times of the game, rather than every 5 minutes of the second half.

6 wins, 2 draws, and a trophy suggests a good pre season, and yes it's better to go into the season with it than not. But now the real work begins, and we have to hit the ground running in London and Hoffenheim, before we get home for our first home game of the season.
