Gini is far less of a problem to us than Jordan is, has Henderson EVER dribbled the ball past another player in his life or is it just safe 5 yard backward and sideways passes??

      How many times...

It's not his job to dribble past people. The 5 yard thing is a myth and only said by ignorant pillocks who don't watch the game. Check the Henderson player thread, I did some research. His average pass length is way longer that the other premier league teams top players. Do you not see the amount of long balls he pull off? Do you're homework before posting nonsense like this.

Then we need to talk about the manager...

Not just yet. I think if Lallana and Phil are fit and he keeps playing his then yea. But for now he's in there because we have less options... still doesn't mean he can't be scrutinised for these performances. I don't know what's up with him. Hopefully just a blip.

Been poor so far mate no doubt.

He's in because of his energy and the fact he keeps play moving. He's always there at breakdown etc in middle it's just not working for him.

That said - I'll have him instead of Can at the moment who was wretched Vs Watford and Hoffenheim.......

Gini - on song - does offer something that the others don't in terms of linking play.

Gini has suddenly become a target after a sluggish start which you could square at the feet of a number of our players.

Problem is, the lack of quality. When Coutinho wants to leave and Lallana is injured our next best attacking midfielder comes Gini in the pecking order. A considerable gap it must be said, however, Gini is quite a neat and tidy player (nothing special like the rest of our midfielders).

He made something like 30 starts last season and was more often than not paired with either Lallana or Coutinho which suited his game. His game is all about passing and movement and he can 'tick' that over and not look out of place in a higher quality midfield. Unlike Can he doesn't need 3 or 4 touches to control the ball, and look up to shift it on. He does this much more efficiently and can shift it on without getting his head up. He also doesn't give away as many needless/silly fouls like Can or Milner do. He, as posted above will chip in with his assists and goals - remember that header against Citeh? Out of Can, Henderson, and Milner he'll be the only one to ghost into the box and offer threat, and yesterday he did let off a peach of a shot with perfect technique from a corner, their keeper made a really good save to keep it out.

But it's no coincidence his own form has been sluggish since being paired with the cumbersome and often erratic Can, or Milner (who had a decent game by his standards), because they aren't proactive ball playing midfielders like Coutinho and Lallana are.

Again, it all comes back to quality and not supplementing the team with it which was supposed to be done this summer by the manager.

Agreed with a lot of that 'Belly - in particular those bits.

Milner's tackling yesterday rather than his distribution were what made him look off the pace.

At least Gini's got a goal in him.  Think we need to talk about Henderson and Emre Can first.

My friend I do watch him with my own eyes and he creates absolutely F**k all, he gets the ball and invariably passes it sideways, never ever takes a player on, I don't F***ing care if its his job or not but for once in a while it would be refreshing plus it would put  opponents on the backfoot. I know you idolise Henderson and consider him the greatest midfielder of all time but there must be a reason why hardly anyone else shares your view, we can't all be blind.

No doubt our midfield has been out of sorts. None of them look themselves. Desperately need a creative spark to compliment our current set up.

      :lmao:

Come off it. Not once have I said that or even implied it. Always said he's very very good and underrated and I have the stats to back me up. Has he been good this season? Not at all. Nor has any of our midfield and that needs to change fast.

Give the guy a F***ing chance

Robertson had more touches of the ball yesterday than Gini has made in the opening 3 games.

      That kind of talk?

Needs to involve himself more, demand the ball and help gain control in the middle, don't get me wrong a lot of the work he does do well goes unnoticed aka pressing, creating space for others with intelligent runs that drag players about, but its really not enough, needs to impose himself and influence games more imo.

Gini is a decent squad player but no more.

Klopp knows this which is why he's so desperate to bring in Keita.

He's offered absolutely nothing for a long time, begging to be replaced, wonder how long Woodburn and Grujic will be held back, think either, depending on opponent, could do a better job.

Needs to up his game does Gini, put in some fine performances last season but there was enough dross to make you wonder if he was a long term answer and that question seems to be getting answered quite clearly this year.

Hopefully he's squad player status by the time the window shuts, might make him buck up his ideas and knuckle down because he has talent, he just doesn't apply himself enough. Also looks a damn sight slower this season, once someone is beyond him he doesn't catch up.

Great game from Gini. Hope he can keep that up, with performances like that you can see why Klopp picks him.

Not being funny but... do you think this is why he's been looking, for lack of a better word, tired. Can't be easy having to balance everything and we can forget these players are just human and building a young family and travelling the world can't come without its stress.

Congrats Gini and his family, let's keep kicking on and get some medals for your kids to play with

Could well be. There has also been suggested that he was carrying an injury that could be managed by painkillers and didn't limit his running as such (even though I think he did really look slower and more sluggish than usual), but did limit his passing / shooting. It could explain why he was nearly invisible in all of the early season games where he was limited to making runs to make space, open up passing lanes and trying to pull players out of position. He barely got on the ball in these games.
