Former Limerick manager to join Paul Lambert at Stoke City

Stuart Taylor in his Limerick days

Former Limerick manager Stuart Taylor is being lined up to join Paul Lambert at Stoke City.

Taylor is currently involved with Glasgow Rangers' Under-20s and he worked with Lambert at Wolves and Aston Villa. The Daily Record reports that former Airdrieonians and St Mirren midfielder Taylor could be Lambert's number two at the Bet365 Stadium.

While Taylor only joined Rangers' Under-20 set-up last week, his contract runs out in the summer.

After failing to persuade Derby's Gary Rowett, Espanyol's Quique Sanchez Flores and Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill to take the job, Stoke turned to Lambert, who signed a two-year deal on Monday.

Taylor played in the League of Ireland for Drogheda in 2002 and managed Limerick from January, 2013 until July, 2014.
