Juventus have ruled out signing Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in the January transfer window.

The defending Serie A champions tried unsuccessfully to lure the German to the Allianz Stadium before the summer transfer window shut at the end of August.

Can is an important player for Liverpool and Juventus chief executive Beppe Marotta cannot see the Anfield side selling him midway through the season.

Marotta said he is happy with the current squad and ruled out a major signing this season.

"We don't think we are going to make a big signing in January," Marotta told the Independent.

"We have faith in this team and in these lads.

"As for Emre Can, I don't think Liverpool will sell him in January.

"We made an offer for him in the summer but the Reds didn't sell him so I don't think they'll change their mind in the middle of the season."
