Manchester City’s bid to sign Kyle Walker will drag on into next week as Tottenham Hotspur dig their heels in over the price for the England right-back.
The two clubs have been locked in talks this week and City have been frustrated by Spurs’ valuation which is close to £50million. Pep Guardiola has made Walker a priority and after quickly tying up the signatures of Bernardo Silva and Ederson, City wanted a deal done quickly.
But Daniel Levy knows that he has no reason to sell for anything less than his asking price. Walker has four seasons left on the contract he signed last autumn and Tottenham will not be pushed into anything.

United and Spurs to do battle
Manchester United and Tottenham are going head to head for misfit Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to reports.
Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo is reporting that the two English clubs will battle with Juventus for the player’s signature, with Arsenal also interested.
However, the newspaper also claims that new Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde is a big fan of Gomes and may give the midfielder one final chance to impress at the Camp Nou.
Gomes, 23, signed for Barcelona from Valencia in a deal potentially rising to €55m. But he struggled to break into Barcelona’s first-team and repeatedly underwhelmed with a string of poor performances.
Manchester United remain keen on midfielder Ivan Perisic, but insist that Inter must drop their demands of a £50m fee.
The Croatian international is a key part of Jose Mourinho's summer recruitment plan, with the Portuguese coach desperate to sign a hard-working, defensively-conscious wide midfielder who can also chip in with goals.
United had considered Bernardo Silva for that role, but ended up letting him go to cross-town rivals City as they focused their efforts on securing the 28-year-old Perisic.
Inter want £50m for the Croatian wideman, an asking price that United absolutely will not meet. The Italian giants believe they have some leverage as Mourinho wishes to conclude his major business by July, but the Serie A club are also looking to raise funds as they bid to meet Financial Fair Play requirements by the end of this month.
