Chelsea v Arsenal Betting Preview: Back Hazard to haunt Gunners again as sides meet in Carabao Cup

Having missed a number of clear chances in last week’s 2-2 Premier League draw, Alvaro Morata will be determined to make amends when Chelsea take on Arsenal in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final.

Morata the favourite

Despite failing to find the net at the Emirates Stadium in the previous meeting, the Spain international is Paddy Power’s 4/1 (5.00) favourite to put that behind him by opening the scoring in front of his own fans.

However, considering he has only been on target against relegation-threatened Brighton, Bournemouth and Newcastle in his last 13 appearances, 11/10 (2.10) anytime odds do seem rather slender.

Hazard head-to-head

Instead, Eden Hazard could offer better value at 7/5 (2.40) after scoring for the fourth time against Arsene Wenger’s men last week, taking his tally to nine goals for the season in all competitions.

Also on target in North London to maintain a remarkable run of three goals in five appearances, defender Marcos Alonso may offer some temptation at 7/2 (4.50) to make this his most prolific ever campaign by grabbing a seventh in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas can be backed at 5/2 (3.50) to come back to haunt the club he left after an eight year spell back in 2011.

Lacazette or Alexis Sanchez?

At the other end of the pitch, Alexandre Lacazette is the Gunners’ 8/1 (9.00) favourite to end his run of seven games without a goal by breaking the deadlock at Stamford Bridge, or 12/5 (3.40) to strike anytime.

With all seven of his domestic goals for the season having arrived in the last 14 fixtures, Alexis Sanchez’s form perhaps makes his 13/5 (3.60) anytime odds seem rather more attractive although speculation continues over his future.

On the scoresheet in Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest, Danny Welbeck is priced at 13/5 (3.60) to strike in rather more high profile circumstances, while Mesut Ozil is available at 4/1 (5.00) to score for a third match in five.
