Manchester United travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley, less than four weeks after drawing with them 2-2 at Old Trafford.

Two goals from Jesse Lingard saved a point for Jose Mourinho's side on Boxing Day, but United will be hoping for an improved performance when they take on the Clarets again.

With Manchester City losing last weekend, their local rivals closed the gap at the top of the table to 12 points and will be looking to reduce that further with City not playing until Saturday evening.

Jonathan Walters had been linked with a move to Sunderland, but is unlikely to play for anyone for the next few months as he underwent knee surgery on Thursday.

Sean Dyche will also be without striker Chris Wood and left-back Stephen Ward. However, he will be able to call upon Scott Arfield, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury.

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is making progress on his fitness, but is still some way off returning.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will play no part in the trip to Burnley as he finalises a move to Arsenal, with Alexis Sanchez going the other way. New players have to be registered by 12:00 the day before a game to feature for their new clubs.

Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both unavailable due to injury, while Daley Blind is not expected to feature as he picked up a knock in training. Ashley Young is available once again following a three-game suspension.

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope will hope to continue his impressive form in Tom Heaton's absence, but could face a busy afternoon against a Manchester United side who average more than two goals each game.

The Red Devils defeated Stoke City last time out, with Romelu Lukaku netting his 11th league goal of the season. Much of the talk around the game will be about the incoming Alexis Sanchez, so Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial will undoubtedly want to impress Mourinho and not lose their places in the side when the Chilean arrives at Old Trafford.

Burnley currently sit in seventh in the table, and a draw or better will keep them in that position at the end of the weekend. They are five points behind Arsenal and 10 adrift of Tottenham as they look to finish the season strongly and secure a place in Europe.
