Betting: Manchester City see odds cut after opening eight-point lead in the Premier League

Manchester City have opened up an eight-point gap at the top of the Premier League following their 3-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus secured the Citizens’ 10th win of the season in just their 11th match, making their tally of 31 points and 38 goals the best return of any Premier League side ever at this stage in the campaign.

Second-placed Manchester United’s 1-0 loss at Chelsea meant the margin widened from the five points it was at prior to the weekend’s matches.

As such, it is little surprise that Pep Guardiola’s men are only 1/6 (1.17) with dabblebet to regain the Premier League this season and win their first title since 2014.

Should City come unstuck in their quest for a third Premier League crown, the eight-point advantage they hold over the Red Devils and Tottenham Hotspur would mark the fifth-biggest lead blown by a team at the top of the league who then failed to claim the trophy come May.

In fact, the blue half of Manchester’s dominance is so prominent that Spurs are second-favourites at a huge 12/1 (13.0), despite their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side can be backed at 14/1 (15.0) after they lost for the second time this campaign on Sunday, but still boast the best defence in the league.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are out at 16/1 (17.0), with fifth-placed Liverpool available at a whopping 40/1 (41.0) to win a first Premier League title.

Arsenal – level on points with Jurgen Klopp’s charges - are priced at 50/1 (51.0) by the online bookmaker as Arsene Wenger faces increasing pressure to deliver the top domestic prize for the first time since the Gunners’ unbeaten season in 2004.
