Despite scoring a stunner, West Ham United ace Andre Ayew is disappointed to have left Selhurst Park with just a point following a 2-2 stalemate against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Ghanaian intercepted a pass at halfway, launched a solo run before hitting a rocket into the top left corner of the net from outside the box to put the Irons 2-0 up.
However, it eventually ended in disappointment for the away side as Wilfried Zaha netted an equalizer in the last minute of injury time after Luka Milivojevic halved the deficit on 50 minutes.
“It felt like a defeat,” Ayew told his club's official website.
“We’re disappointed. It was a tough game, and it’s always difficult to hold to the end when you come out after half-time and concede a goal inside the first five minutes.
“They had opportunities, but we’re disappointed that it ended 2-2. We need to forget about the disappointment and correct what we did badly in the second half when we play Liverpool next week."
Mexican striker Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez put West Ham in front in the 31st minute before Ayew made it 2-0 two minutes to half-time.
“We didn’t hold the ball as well as we did in the first half and that put our defenders under pressure the whole time. We’ll learn from that," the Ghanaian added.
“The response to Brighton has not been bad, because of the victory we had at Wembley, but to be honest we should have left Crystal Palace with three points and had two wins in a row.”
Ayew made it three goals in two games in all competitions by Saturday's strike.
The deputy Ghana captain was at the double on Wednesday, drawing West Ham level from two goals down, as the Irons beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the League Cup.
Denied three points, West Ham currently sit only two places and one point above the relegation zone on the Premier League table.
