Manchester City v Manchester United - the 'world's derby'

This derby is the most globally diverse in the Premier League, and is likely to only have four British players take the field on Sunday. Argentina's influence is especially prevalent, with four members of the Albiceleste likely to feature at the Etihad this weekend, but in total 13 countries are represented.

Liverpool v Everton - the 'English derby'

In the past, these derbies were dominated by the Celtic nations but recent seasons has seen a significant swing back towards England. Ten English players would be likely to take the field in a Merseyside derby - five from each team - and were it not for Tim Howard, Everton’s goalkeeper, the derby would be entirely European.

Arsenal v Tottenham - the 'French derby'

The days when Arsenal were considered a French enclave of London are gone: Tottenham now have a greater Gallic influence in their starting XI, with three players to Arsenal's two. A predominantly European affair - save for two South Americans - with six English players, three on each side.

Chelsea v Arsenal - the 'Latin derby'

Even with the departures of David Luiz and Fernando Torres from the Premier League last summer, this is still the top flight's most Latinate derby, featuring three Brazilians - all playing in Chelsea blue - three Spaniards and a Chilean.

Sunderland v Newcastle - the 'Dutch derby'

It is no great surprise that England has eight players represented in the Tyne-Wear derby, but more surprising is the heavy contingent of Dutch players who have made the (relatively) short hop across the North Sea: there are four in total, three from Newcastle and one from Sunderland.

Aston Villa v West Brom - the 'African derby'

Although England boasts the lion's share of players in this west midlands squabble, the most striking aspect is the representation from Africa - three players, from Nigeria, Benin and DR Congo - can expect to take the field when Villa face Albion, the most of any derby in the top flight.
