Video: Everton target Memphis Depay in training

Out of the first-term, out of the squad, but Memphis Depay has had plenty of time to work on his fitness over the last few weeks.

Depay is continuously linked with Everton, and could move when the window opens next month.

He'll be in good shape for whichever club comes in for him:

Mourinho: "We're not scoring enough goals"

Perhaps the Manchester United manager will be tempted into the transfer market next month. Here's what he had to say after last night's win.

"We are not scoring enough goals for the football we play," he said.

"We can say that, against Zorya, I don't remember their goalkeeper made a lot of saves. I don't think he made any phenomenal saves.

"When we play against other teams in the Premier League, normally they are the man of the match. They save everything. Goals make a huge difference so we need to score more goals.

"I think the team is playing very well. I think the team is playing very well and probably the Ukrainians fans did not see the best Manchester United of the season.

"Because the best Manchester United of the season was the team that played the last four, five or six matches in the Premier League, and managed one victory and four or five draws. We are playing very, very well, but we need more goals."

Classic Zlatan

This is how Zlatan Ibrahimovic responded to a question about new signings, according to the Manchester Evening News:

  • Q: With the January transfer window less than a month away, what do you think of the squad and which positions do you need to strengthen?
  • Zlatan: That’s not my area.

Darmian's future uncertain

Another Manchester United player with a very uncertain future is Matteo Darmian.

The defender did not feature in the Europa League squad last night, leaving a few suggestions that he is being protected from injury ahead of a potential January move.

Either that, or he was being rested for Sunday's Tottenham game.

Young also linked away

Another Manchester United fringe player attracting interest from elsewhere in the Premier League is Ashley Young.

The 31-year-old gave an interview this week where he spoke about being the 'team DJ' and part of the 'cool corner' of the dressing room, but his first-team opportunities have become limited - with only eight appearances so far.

The Manchester Evening News report that several clubs are interested in signing Young, including West Brom, Swansea and Everton.

Memphis Depay still attracting interest from Everton

The January transfer window is only around the corner - and Memphis Depay remains the subject of most interest.

The Dutch international has barely featured in Jose Mourinho's tenure so far and looks likely to leave when the window re-opens in 22 days' time.

Everton remain the front-runners to sign Depay, who was left out of Manchester United's Europa League squad again this week, instead spending his time training and meeting Anthony Joshua.

One man who has seemingly worked his way back into Mourinho's good books is Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who score during the club's Europa League win last night.

"He has a strong mentality," Mourinho said. "He was very determined to fight against his difficult adaptation, and he's doing that in the best way.

"He worked really hard physically, tactically and the talent we know is there. The talent we knew what we were buying.

"He fought to improve tactically, he fought to improve physically, and now he is playing good in the Premier League, good in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, and now evolving a bit more happiness for him, so I'm very pleased."

It feels like Man Utd are turning a corner - and we'll bring you all the latest on who Mourinho would like to bring in and get rid of in January here throughout the day.
