Chelsea star Eden Hazard has plenty of faith in the Blues' title defence

The Blues are winless in three games after following up back-to-back defeats in the Premier League with a Champions League draw versus Roma.

They are now nine points off the title pace ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Watford and beset by injuries, with David Luiz and Tiemoue Bakayoko both doubts.

But Hazard said: “If people say we can’t win the league, I don’t agree with that. The difference between this year and last year is Manchester City and United are stronger.

“We are ready, we know the Premier League is long, so we have time to come back.

“It’s different this season because we play in the Champions League. Last season it was easier to play every game every week. We were more fresh.

“Now it’s different, but we need to adapt to the situation. We will give everything, but I think we’re on the same level as last year.”

Hazard scored his first Chelsea goals in five months to rescue a point, and his side’s unbeaten record in the Champions League, on Wednesday night.

Blues boss Antonio Conte claims some of his players desperately need a rest because they are at risk of picking up injuries from over-use.

But Hazard insists he is not one of them because he wants to play as much as possible after missing the start of the season through injury.

He said: “I know for the players sometimes it’s important to rest and be on the bench. For me, I just want to play.

“I missed three months, and I just want to be on the pitch. But the manager makes his own decisions, and we’re happy with that.

“When the players are on the bench, they are not happy. When they are on the pitch they are happy. But we can only put 11 players on the pitch.

“We try to give maximum, but when we are tired we go on the bench. It’s normal.

“Am I far off where I was last season? I think it’s the same. I try to keep this level in every game. We lost two games in the league and now we want to bounce back.”
