Yet it is the supporters who feel they have been taken for a ride.

All the promise of what the major cash injection from Farhad Moshiri would herald brought hope back to the blue half of Merseyside. But all it has bought so far is more doom and gloom for the Toffees.

When Moshiri appointed Koeman just over a year ago he said the club needed a Hollywood manager to compete with the North West’s star collection of Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.

Koeman has the name, the CV and Moshiri’s millions but he has failed to bring the glittering football expected this season.

Yesterday’s horror performance against Arsenal was their fifth league defeat of the season and plunged them into the relegation zone.

It was flat, it was predictable, which has been said too often about their displays this term yet Koeman has been unable to sort it out.

The message from that Everton fan was loud and clear to the under-fire manager.

But maybe if Koeman had listened to another piece of advice then things might have turned out differently.

Troy Deeney helped Watford beat the Gunners last weekend then told everyone the secret was to get in their faces and make life uncomfortable for Arsene Wenger’s men.

But the Dutchman and his side did not heed Deeney’s advice and instead his team opted to give Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil all the time on the ball they needed to put in their best displays of the season.

It was the first time Sanchez, Ozil and record summer signing Alexandre Lacazette had started together and Gunners fans will be desperate to see it more often, if this is the result.

It would be wrong to call it a toxic atmosphere at Goodison Park when the final whistle went. But only because most of the crowd had already seen enough and headed for the exit well before Sanchez added the fifth in added time.

It had all started so positively for the home side though when Everton took the lead after weathering an early storm thanks to the superb goalkeeping of Jordan Pickford.

Wayne Rooney curled home in the 12th minute at the very same end he announced his arrival as a 16-year-old superstar in the making in similar style against Arsenal 15 years ago.

But any feeling that moment or magic could be a turning point for Koeman soon evaporated as Arsenal were level before the break.

Granit Xhaka’s deflected shot was saved by Pickford, but Nacho Monreal fired in the rebound before Hector Bellerin should have got a second.

Koeman threw on Tom Davies at the interval, the ninth substitution he has made at half-time this season, and the Toffees regained some composure - for five minutes.

But, in the 53rd minute, a delightful chipped cross from Sanchez found the head of Ozil and he directed it past Pickford.

Gunners boss Wenger was right to say Sanchez was “on fire” and Ozil was “superb” after a game they controlled together and he must surely wish he could convince them to stay on and sign new contracts.

An already massive challenge for Everton was made infinitely harder when Idrissa Gueye jumped into a challenge with Xhaka in the 68th minute. He was already on a yellow card and referee Craig Pawson rightly gave him his second and sent him off.

The third Arsenal goal came six minutes later from the third man in Arsenal’s terrific trio as Lacazette found the net from an Ozil cross.

Xhaka then struck the bar in the 84th minute before substitute Jack Wilshere, who the Arsenal fans sang for throughout, fed Aaron Ramsey with the Wales star slotting home.

Oumar Niasse pulled one back for Everton when he blocked a Petr Cech clearance to bundle home but there was still time for Sanchez to get the goal his performance deserved as his low strike found the bottom corner.

This was a performance that may get Wenger’s Arsenal back on the right road.

In contrast Koeman must now wait to see if Moshiri calls for that taxi to change Everton’s route.
