That's the verdict of Alex Manninger, who spent last season at Anfield before calling it quits on his 22-year playing career.

Can, 23, has made 138 first-team appearances in all competitions since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

And this term he's started five of their seven Premier League fixtures, providing two assists.

Can's long-term future has been the subject of much speculation though.

Starsport understands he is unwilling to extend his Liverpool stay beyond next summer unless a release clause is written into any new contract.

Juventus has been heavily touted as a potential destination for Can should he leave Merseyside.

And Manninger reckons tying up a deal would represent smart business for the Serie A giants, where he was on the books himself for four years.

Manninger told Il Bianco Nero: "He [Can] is young and is a player I've always admired.

"He is still young but is definitely very strong. He plays like a veteran. He knows how to defend and how to score goals.

"Juventus will make no mistake if they sign him. He has great charisma and never wants to lose. He has Turkish blood but German technique."

Liverpool, meanwhile, return to Premier League action against Manchester United on Saturday (12.30pm).

Jurgen Klopp's men are currently seventh in the table, already seven points adrift of their arch-rivals.
