Sam Allardyce believes Dele Alli and Harry Kane are the key to England's World Cup

Former Three Lions boss Allardyce believes their partnership can see England hurt the biggest teams at Russia 2018.

With a partnership as tight as Kane and Alli’s, Allardyce thinks England now have the key to end their wait for a major trophy.

“Dele Alli and Harry Kane can win England the World Cup, absolutely,” Allardyce told talkSPORT host Jim White.

“I think that combination is one of the best in the Premier League at this moment in time.

“They can turn a game in a split second and that’s what you need with England at the top level.

“You got two players who are capable of doing that.

“They play together at Tottenham and with them playing together for England, it could be just a great combination for the England team, hopefully, in Russia.”

Harry Kane scored 13 times in September alone, while Alli bagged 22 goals last season.

Allardyce, who was sacked after just one match and 67 days in charge of England, is hopeful that England can succeed.

“You’ve got to go there thinking you can win it,” he said.

“What’s the point of going if you don’t?

“Gareth’s worry from now until Russia will be injuries.

“Every weekend he will be praying that none of these boys get injured and miss the World Cup - that will be critical."
