Michy Batshuayi was delighted to net the winner for Chelsea against Atletico Madrid

The striker bagged the Blues’ clincher last night as they beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Wanda Metropolitano.

Batshuayi came off the bench once again and popped up with the vital contribution in the 94th minute.

With the last kick of the game, the 23-year-old converted Marcos Alonso’s low cross at the near post.

And that gave Chelsea their second successive Champions League win to put them top of Group C.

Batshuayi has been dubbed ‘Batsman’ for his heroics in a Chelsea shirt, having scored the winner which won them the Premier League title at West Brom last season.

And after the match he tweeted: “When the game needs a 94th minute winner, call me #Batsman.”

On the group effort, Batshuayi added: “More seriously, I’m happy to score the winning goal but what a great game we had!!!

“Terrific team performance, enjoyed it all.”

The Belgium international has had an ongoing feud with EA SPORTS and FIFA too over his rating on the game.

And he reignited the debate by messaging them: “Ahahahaha everyone was waiting for me to come at @EASPORTSFIFA”.

Before flying back to London, Batshuayi had time to have a picture with two former Chelsea strikers.

Diego Costa, following his confirmed return to Atletico ahead of January, was in attendance last night.

Fernando Torres also came off the bench for Atletico to face his old side, and Batshuayi cheekily took a dig at ex-team-mate Costa.

He tweeted: “Great honour to meet one of the great strikers I used to watch when I was younger... and no I’m not talking about Diego #ElNino”.

Batshuayi will certainly be in with a shout for game time at home to Manchester City on Saturday (5.30pm).
