Kaveh Solhekol says Atletico Madrid will pay all of Diego Costa’s wages

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

Chelsea today announced they have agreed a fee with Atletico for the Spain international, 28.

Costa has been AWOL this summer after Antonio Conte told the striker to find another club.

And Solhekol says the Blues are getting a great deal, with Atletico to pay over £50m for Costa, as well as paying all his wages.

“If you’re a Chelsea supporter you’re going to have mixed emotions about this,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News.

“On the one hand you do lose a very, very good player. But on the other hand, once you look into the deal, Chelsea I think are getting a pretty good price for Diego Costa.

“Diego Costa only wanted to go back to Atletico Madrid, he made that very clear, he would not go anywhere else.

“Of course Atletico Madrid knew this and tried to get him on the cheap, this is why this has been dragging on for so long.

“What we’ve discovered today that the deal has been agreed, in the next few days Costa will have a medical.

“The big question is how much is it going to cost? We’ve been told Atletico will be paying more than £50m for Diego Costa.

“Then the big question is, who’s going to be paying his wages? He’s on £150,000-a-week.

“Will Chelsea be subsidising his wages? We are told once he signs for Atletico Madrid, Atletico Madrid will be paying him.

“That will be the end of it, Chelsea will get their money, they won’t be paying him.”
