Chelsea star Eden Hazard will sign a new contract

That’s according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb who say negotiations between the player and club are progressing well.

The Belgian midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

However, an ankle break meant the La Liga champions cooled their interest.

Glen Hoddle reckons keeping Hazard at the club and firing on all cylinders will be crucial for Antonio Conte this term.

“The thing about Hazard is when he’s on form he’s one of the best players in the world,” Hoddle said on BT Sport.

“But he doesn’t have to be on form to effect the game.

“If he’s having an indifferent game, they’re the players that make the difference.

“We see his talent here, he’s two footed, left and right foot, he creates but look at that for a finish, that is world class.

“If Chelsea are going to hang onto him long term and go for Champions League and for the Premier League at the same time, they must keep Eden Hazard.

“There’s no doubt about it, he’s a top, top quality player. It’s good to see him back.”

Hazard’s current Chelsea contract expires in 2020.

But TuttoMercatoWeb claim the west Londoners are determined to keep him in west London for significantly longer.

Since signing from Lille in 2012, Hazard has made 175 appearances for Chelsea and scored 57 goals.
