Woodburn has risen through the ranks of the Reds’ academy after joining up with them aged seven.

And last season he shot to fame, becoming the club’s youngest ever goalscorer in an EFL Cup win over Leeds United.

Woodburn’s emergence at Liverpool has gone hand-in-hand with him taking to the international stage with Wales.

And he bolstered his credentials as one of Britain’s top prospects with a goal and an assist for Chris Coleman’s senior side during the international break.

Woodburn is currently on £40,000 a year at Anfield - the most a player in the first year of a professional contract is allowed to make at Liverpool.

However, that’s set to jump to £1.3m a year once he turns 18 on October 15.

The Mirror say Liverpool have begun negotiations that will see Woodburn earn £25,000 a week from then on.

That’s the starter basic pay level for members of Liverpool’s first-team squad and reflects his speedy development over the past 12 months.

Liverpool will apparently set down a plan showing how they intend to bring Woodburn on at this crucial stage of his career.

And Jurgen Klopp is likely to have a hand in convincing the 17-year-old to sign on, with the Liverpool boss more than aware of his talent.

The Mirror indicate the deal being discussed would keep Woodburn on Merseyside for at least the next six years.
