Chelsea have left Diego Costa out of their Champions League squad for the new season.

The 28-year-old has been told by Antonio Conte he can leave the Blues and is currently AWOL in Brazil.

Atletico Madrid were linked with a move for Costa but the striker remains at Chelsea after no agreement was reached.

The Spain international wanted a switch to Atletico but with their current transfer embargo he would not have been able to play until January.

Chelsea have been drawn alongside Atletico, Roma and Qarabag in the group stages.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has opened up on his relationship with Antonio Conte.

“I have a good relationship with all my managers,” the forward told the Daily Mail.

“You know we train every day together and we can talk together and laugh together.

“So yes absolutely we have a good relationship.

“I wouldn’t say ‘friends’ because it is difficult to be friends with your manager so I wouldn't say that.

“But we have a good relationship.”

Ross Barkley pulled the plug on a move to Chelsea after Antonio Conte ignored his calls, according to Joey Barton.

He told talkSPORT: “I heard a really interesting thing about what happened with the Ross Barkley transfer.

“Conte turned his phone off and Barkley's representatives were trying to contact him.

“He wanted to say 'look, where am I going to play', and Conte turned his phone off.

“That is why Barkley got cold feet and never signed.

“He thought, 'well, if the manager isn't answering the phone to me he clearly doesn’t want me', and that is why he went back to Everton.”
