Liverpool are ‘still on track’ to complete more major signings this summer

The Reds have today confirmed their £40m capture of Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Jurgen Klopp is still actively looking to bolster his ranks further and is keen to add another defender and attacker.

Southampton’s Virgil van Djik and Monaco’s Thomas Lemar remain Liverpool’s top targets for the remaining few hours of the transfer window.

Bookmakers BetStars claim Klopp and co could still splash the cash further before tonight’s deadline.

BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said: “As the transfer window draws to a close, Liverpool are still on track to add a few more big names to their squad to supplement the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“Southampton’s Virgil van Djik has been the subject of intense interest from a number of Premier League clubs throughout the summer window but still remains a top defensive target for the Reds.

“The Dutch defender is priced at 5/4 to become the latest Saints star to make the switch to Merseyside.

“The Anfield hierarchy are also continuing their pursuit of Monaco’s Thomas Lemar who is priced at 6/5 to be a Liverpool player by the end of the day.”

Liverpool still want Southampton’s Virgil van Djik

Meanwhile, BetStars also believe Phillipe Coutinho is set to leave Liverpool and finally complete his switch to Barcelona.

Marmion added: “After weeks of speculation, Phillipe Coutinho’s long-awaited move to the Nou Camp is looking increasingly likely and the midfielder is now odds-on at 5/6 to complete a switch to the Catalan giants.

“Barcelona have remained persistent in their pursuit of the 25-year-old and are expected to come back with a revised bid for the Brazilian playmaker in a last ditch attempt to force through a move.

“The confirmed signing of Oxlade-Chamberlain at Anfield could be the catalyst that changes Jurgen Klopp’s stance and paves the way for the Brazil international’s record-breaking move to his dream club.”
