Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has snubbed a new £180,000-a-week contract offer from Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has snubbed a new £180,000-a-week contract offer from Arsenal.

The Sun say the England international, who is out of contract at the Emirates this summer, held showdown talks with the Gunners yesterday.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain is refusing to sign a new deal, sparking exit rumours.

The Sun add that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis was present but the former Southampton star told the Gunners he wants to move.

Chelsea are keen on the midfielder, and Starsport understands they'll bid £40m to get him.

Arsene Wenger a big fan of Oxlade-Chamberlain and he wants to tie down his star man.

Pep Guardiola is refusing to rule out a late swoop for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

Guardiola is keen to bring the Chile international to Manchester City, but Wenger is determined to keep him at Arsenal.

And the City manager is remaining coy about a move for Sanchez, 28.

He said: “I’m happy with the squad I have, but we’re going to see. We have five or six days left, and I think the market is going to move.”

But asked about the possibility of signing Sanchez, Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and West Brom captain Jonny Evans, Guardiola said: “He’s an Arsenal player, like Mbappe is a Monaco player, like Johnny Evans is a West Bromwich Albion player.

“You have to ask Alexis. He’s a player and the other clubs have to talk about it. Normally I don’t talk about players from other clubs.”

Paul Merson insists Arsenal will dip back into the transfer market if they suffer defeat to Liverpool this weekend.

He told Sky Sports: "If they go and get beat by Liverpool on Sunday, I think Arsenal will have to go out and buy. They need a defender.

"Let’s be honest, you are not going to win the Premier League with Monreal playing in a back three, he’s not a centre-half.

"They’ve got [Hector] Bellerin playing on the left instead of on the right, that needs to be sorted out.

"This is Arsenal Football Club and they need to sort out their defence. If you haven’t got a good defence, you are not going to win the Premier League title."
